Abstract

The participants will get a basic training on modern, student-centered pedagogical and technological theories and concepts for teaching and learning with digital media. This includes full online (e-learning), blended learning and classroom teaching with digital technologies. The used concepts and theories are related to TVET practice.

Learning objectives

On completion of the training, participants

  • describe different pedagogical and Digital Media theories and concepts
  • compare and apply different e-learning, blended learning and classroom formats and scenarios involving Digital Media
  • decelop didactical concepts for using Digital Media in teaching and learning
  • teach students on digital media literacy

Contents of this course will be:

  • Digital media theories and concepts for teaching and learning
  • Digital teaching and learning methods and e-didactics
  • Digital media-oriented curriculum development
  • Concepts and models for developing teaching and learning scenarios
  • Course organization and structures
  • Data security and ethics, netiquette, copyright
  • Tipps and tricks, do’s and don’ts 

References to the learning material

The training is designed to be provided as a full online (e-learning) course. The student-centered and practical approach includes group and project work.

Main digital media (e-learning) elements are:

  • Lectures/presentations via video stream (live or on demand)
  • Collaboration and productivity software like MS 365 (Teams, Office) or Google Apps
  • Group and one-on-one video calls for mentoring and discussion
  • Text-based communication chat, group chat, e-mail and message boards (e.g. MS Teams channels)
  • Learning Management Systems (on demand)

Prerequisites

The course is mainly designed for participants with

  • Basic ICT skills
  • basic professional experience in TVET college, institute, agency, university or company
