Abstract

A learning workshop with holistic approach, in which participants reflect, exchange, compare and co-create ideas for improving practices in their own project’s context. Participants will link and utilize different experiences, tools, insights and comparative perspectives to analyze cases that will enhance understanding and application for project's effectiveness and sustainable's results. The session includes brief input on trends and relevant research results to form a common ground for reflection. Together, participants will define what should and could they do differently to improve current approach, intervention, and strategy for transforming and pursuing sustainable results and effectiveness of project.

 

Learning objectives

At the end of the training workshop, the participants will have:

  • deepened their understanding on key concept, principle, tools and frameworks of sustainability and its relevance to project management for sustainable results of project
  • practiced their skills on considering sustainable dimensions and identify sustainable results of project
  • developed ideas on how to address, apply and contribute effectively to the sustainable dimensions of their project context
  • ability to address major challenges arising in complex contexts without losing focus on sustainable results and effectiveness of project, positive change, and transformative approach.
  • discussed and revisited different project‘s sustainable approaches and interventions after application and consultation

Contents

  • Overview of sustainable management concepts and approaches including implications of external and global dynamics including transformation, and megatrends at difference levels.
  • Explore success factors for sustainable results of project with comparative approaches.
  • Review project’s value creation on its impact and sustainability aspects
  • Learn about tools and scenario planning for project’s long-term perspective.
  • Reflecting on challenges to achieve sustainable and effective results and exploring possible solutions on What should, and could we improve and do differently to pursue sustainability and effectiveness of project.
  • Discussion of own case and finetuning the existing project interventions and approaches along with peer-to-peer-learning and consultation with trainers.

Prerequisites

  • Basic knowledge of project management is a prerequisite for this course.
  • Good communication in English is required in participating in this interactive course. Participants should be able to communicate and engage in a constructive dialogue.

Remarks

A tentative course date will be in June, 2023. The registration will be opened soon.

The course consists of 

  • An orientation session (1 hour)
  • Pre-course assignment and self-study (Approx. 2 hours.)
  • 3 in-class sessions (4 hours / session), which are spanned over a week (14:00 - 18:00 Bangkok time (GMT/ UTC +7) with short breaks in between)
  • Individual assignment (approx. 2 hours)
  • 1 follow-up consultation session (4 hours) a few weeks later (the date will be agreed between trainers and participants upon availability) (14:00 - 18:00 Bangkok time (GMT/ UTC +7) with short breaks in between)

Remarks : 
The total hours will be varied depend on the self-paced of each participant on individual self-study and assignments. 
The consultation time lot will be available upon request.

Target group
